Zakiyyah (pronounced Za-kia) Woods is a multi-focused photographer from Brooklyn, NY that pulls influences from the world surrounding her.

As a young girl, Zakiyyah spent hours thumbing through the family photo albums and bag of loose prints in her Nana's photo cabinet admiring the immortalized moments of relatives and friends past and present but it wasn't until she enrolled in her first photography class at Benedict College that Zakiyyah was able to learn her craft and begin polishing her photographic eye.

Since then, Zakiyyah has used her talents behind the lens to capture stories of pain, joy and everything in between and embraces her obligation as a visual storyteller and "photo-activist" to ensure the stories of the black community are documented and reported accurately.

Zakiyyah's work has been featured in print for BLK CRWN Magazine and the Butter Roll vol. 001 zine. Her work can also be seen on the instagram pages for Cultured Magazine, Girlgaze and VSCO. She has also had the privilege of photographing various political figures in and around Brooklyn.

Zakiyyah is currently available for assignments.
